There’s a new movie coming out called “The Strangers.” It’s a horror movie and it looks terrifying; folks in mask freak me out…

It’s supposed to be based on a true story, but it was hard to find anything on it. Anybody got the lowdown?

Here’s what I Have so far:

The murders happened at Keddie Resort, a small resort in hilly northern California. The date was April 11, 1981. It was discovered by Sheila Sharp, who had stayed overnight at a neighboring house. She returned to her holiday cabin to find 3 people killed. Her Mom Sue, brother John, 16, and his friend, Dana Wingate, 17, were murdered in the same fashion. Their hands and feet were tied, then they were stabbed and hammered. The entire cabin was splattered in blood.

Sheila Sharp’s 2 younger brothers and their friend were in a back bedroom and they were safe. Tina Sharp, a younger sister, was missing. There was damage to the walls and furniture but no one heard anything on that fateful night. The case grew cold due to lack of leads.

That quote block was taken from here.

And if you want the full blown story, complete with photos and newspaper clippings, you can find it here: Cabin 28.

Go see the trailer here either way: The Strangers.

It was 2005 and there were 3 people in the movie killed… the two murdered by the 3 strangers and then an accidental killing of a friend

just so you know, it’s spelled “stupid”, stupid.

  4. Anonyme May 31st, 2008 2:46 pm

It all happened at 1801, Clark road, California. This whole story freaks me out.

i found out the “true” story behind this movie… if you look the strangers up on Wikepedia it says the inspiration to the movie… it was events from the directors childhood that made him create the idea… no oneby the character names was ever actually murdered…

You shouldn’t be calling anyone stupid if you can’t even spell it. And it was three people murdered. One of the murders was accidental.

It says on wikipedia that the movie is based on an event when the director was a child and someone came to his door asking for someone that didn’t live there and later heard that all the empty homes in his neighborhood had been robbed that nite. It was also loosely based on the manson murders and the Keddie Resort Cabin 28 murders.

No everyone else is wrong. This movie is really true. It happened a few years back, back in my home town. I was one of the Mormon boys that discovered the bodies. It started off one morning when I was riding my bike spreading the gospel around town. I rode my wheels by the house and saw 3 people chillin like villains on a sunday thrillin. They questioned me about the lord and then stole my pamphlets. Next thing I know I’m layin in a puddle of some hoe’s koolaid drip drippin all over my new kicks. I tapped the bitch and nothing happened at first. I questioned the koolaid, wasn’t sure if it was fruit punch or cherry, when my thoughts were interrupted by this hoe’s scream. I slapped her and told her to shut up so I can ponder the flavor over a little longer. That’s when she got up and the cops were called.
To this day I still deliver pamphlets all over southern california.
    the end.

    so…
    was it strawbery or cherry?

  10. bitch June 6th, 2008 7:13 pm

    freakin fags

The movie is fake. If you look at the entire credits, at the end you will see: “This story and its characters are entirely fictional. Any resemblance to real life events or people is purely coincidental”.

  12. candy June 11th, 2008 2:46 pm

it’s horrifying to see people making fun of this when I lost my sister to these masked murderers in 2005 at the Clark Rd house. The movie added a lot of fiction but the basic facts are true. The names WERE changed.

This movie was totally rad! Liv Tyler is hot and a great broad to be in a horrer flick! I did some research and found out that the guy 2 places up from me is telling the truth! This movie is completly true and he is the jewish kid handing out the torrahs! The reason I know is because I am the other little jew handing out torrahs! It was totally unfortunaste to have to see a hotty like Liv Tyler die, but its all good because she didnt die untill the end.

which one of you is related to the “girl” that was murdered? what ive got, she was the only survivor. how else would we get the story of what happened that night. someone has to live to tell it.

  15. BoiseNoise July 21st, 2008 12:14 am

Tons of Mormon missionaries around here, and they don’t get sent out until in their late or early 20’s . . . director should have done his homework. I thought the whole bit with the young boys felt very “fake” and distracted from the movie.

Also, I don’t think the movie ever stated that it was a true story: it simply said that it was based on “true events,” and finished the statement by saying that a large number of violent crimes occur every year (duh!). In other words, the movie was only based on “true events” in that violent crimes truly do happen. Just clever wording to make the movie feel more scary and impressive.

  16. BoiseNoise July 21st, 2008 12:15 am

Oops, meant to say “late TEENS or early 20’s” . . . .

  17. Aiken Jamenson July 27th, 2008 9:54 pm

Ok, look, this movie DID happen, it was in Abbott, Texas.
The Killers were two Men and a women, Their names were never released to the public. There were two people that were murdered. Marryn Bretts and her husband, Aleks Bretts.
The Couple was newly married and they were going on their honey moon. They lived in Colorado, so they wanted o go somewhere completely different.
The Couple’s vacation was brutally interupted by the two men and the women.
Both the Brett’s lives were ended that night.
I, Aiken Jamenson, would know, I was there.
    i survived.

  18. Anonymous August 1st, 2008 12:56 pm

Ok i love how one of you is a Mormon handing out pamphlets and the other is a Jew handing out pamphlets….you’re both geniuses, I’m sure. And it’s good to know a Mormon such as yourself uses such good language.

  19. mitch palmer August 10th, 2008 4:15 pm

Aiken jamenson if you were the only one to survive dont u think the directors would of asked for your help while making the movie and 2 if you were there y not tell what really happened though a book or your own website you dont have proof you were u just tell people you were

  20. Lolita August 16th, 2008 4:51 am

I think that all those who are messing around, should stop it. If we are here it’s because we want to know what really happend and you’ll dont make it easier and are not answering any questions. I would love to know what is the real story. I just did see a web site where they talk about cabin28 and that does seem a little similar. But who knows. Aiken Jamenson, if you were really there, then why just say you where there. We would all love to see proof. A old news paper clip or something!!

  21. yvette August 17th, 2008 7:43 pm

Saw The Strangers yesterday, very frightening, but, thought that the film was dragged out. However, as the narration goes it was based on ”true event’s”, or inspired from, but, still a frightening flick all the same. BTW: when someone mispells a word the correct grammar is ’spelt & not spelled’. Yes the person who called the other person stupid should know how to spell the word, so whoever you are go back to school & learn English - fool!!

  22. fred August 18th, 2008 2:18 am

ha ha, what a douch bag!

  23. kathy August 18th, 2008 2:19 am

there were like three bits in that movie that nearly crap my pants. especialy when she’s in the pantry. good suspence!

  24. Elaine September 2nd, 2008 1:33 am

So, I think some of you guys are funny! Anyhoo, I would like to know what really happened too, I just saw the movie and it was pretty creepy. I saw the website where they talk about cabin 28 too and it seems different but the same almost. So maybe the director was just using real life crimes that really did happen. Oh and the voice of the lady in the beginning, calling 911 that wasnt Liv Tyler’s voice, I wonder if it was a real call from whomever this really happened to or did they just fake it to make the movie seem more real?

  25. daron September 2nd, 2008 2:32 pm

Ok look u guys are going about this the wrong way…
Don’t ask other pile info and compare its the only way you will get the stuff right… I mean god damn act like yall got some god damn sense I mean… all I got is on the cabin murders and im still collecting

  26. charleen September 3rd, 2008 7:20 am

Cos ur home , and your be next if ur home. Dieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  27. Andrea September 3rd, 2008 10:17 am

Some of you have made me laugh, I was surprised to see the douche bag as Its been used a lot lately at my work, made me crack up.

ok saw the film last night and it was pretty scary, agree with the pantry part being really scary and agree with it being a little drawn out. I also though there were some moments in it that were quite funny, which was good as it brought you back from the fear but I think it also made created a lapse in the escapsim feature of films.
I would love to know more about it!
I agree that if the guy was there would he not have been approached before the film was made, along with the girl whos sister it was….if true then im very sorry…..if not true your somewhat sick.
I dont think the girls voice can really be that of the tru victim due to privacy laws etc.
However I think the fil has certainly served it spurpose as its got us all talking about it which is what its designed too. If anyones got more on it, would like to hear it.

  28. Steve September 3rd, 2008 4:45 pm

Wasn’t The voice on the phone one of the kids who found them?

  29. Becky September 14th, 2008 12:52 pm

What a load of fucking bollocks.

‘According to production notes, the film was inspired by an event from director Bryan Bertino’s childhood: a stranger came to his home asking for someone who was not there, and Bertino later found out that empty homes in the neighborhood had been broken into that night. In interviews, Bertino stated he was “very impressed” with some of the theories circulating on the Internet about the “true events” the movie is allegedly based on, but said his main inspiration was Helter Skelter, a true crime book about the 1969 Manson family murders.’

    So nerrr.

  30. amanda September 18th, 2008 9:16 am

ok. i saw the movie during the summer wit my cousins and i almost shit my pants. we looked up the murder when we got home and we still havent found anything. what we reallyw anna know is about the phone call. in the beginning. who was that? everyone was dead and it couldnt have been the boys

  31. nicole September 18th, 2008 4:32 pm

the manson muders did happen just google it also it you want further proof there are people sick enough to put pictures of the crime scene and the bodies on internet. But unless you want night mares or to be permanently scarred i woulnd’t look.

  32. mia September 18th, 2008 5:09 pm

    Woah.

I’m really surprised a 90% of the people commenting on this blog were almost eye-witesses to the murders. Come on, people. No, really, come on.

I did think it was loosely inspired on the manson murders - very loosely. But im just sick of horror films using this little “based on a true story” to sell more. That other movie “Hostel” did the same — only even Tarantino admited later that it wasn’t really true.

Ps. and if you all know the story because you were there… how come you’re writting at this blog instead of having sold the story to hollywood before… Haha.

  36. Anonymous October 11th, 2008 1:43 pm

That last comment was horrible, i don’t know who you are but I bet you wouldn’t be brave enough to say that to anyones face. I know if anybody called me that I kick them in the balls, then we’d see who felt dumb!

  37. Kelle bernice October 11th, 2008 2:06 pm

    to be honest everyone,
i watched the film today and thought it was very unrealistic
the murders did not happen like that at all
there were about 5 of them and i killed them with a sword not a knife
i think the director should get his facts right
i am looking forward to see if any of my other murders will be made into films
    yours faithfully

Ummm just for those of you who are wondering who the person in the begging on the phone is. It’s actually one of the mormon boys… listen to it again his name is Jordan he has a high pitched voice so of course your first thought is that of a womans voice. Just thought id throw that out there.

  39. stranger October 14th, 2008 5:09 pm

hey f…. stupid people it is all tru but som of it is spiced up do do it better movie and the voice at teh phone in the beginning is one of the boys who found them and it is the real voice of the boys who realy found them in 2005. stupid idiots who doesnt belive in real things…………….because if you would liv here then you would hear it when people are always talking about it here they are still scared….

  40. Anonymous October 14th, 2008 7:27 pm

i like morms story the best … and as interested as i am to find out what “real events” the movie is based on … you guys are going a little nuts with all of these make-believe stories . nice try though

  41. Guest October 15th, 2008 8:16 pm

I did a little research on the film and the murders it was loosely based on..the murders of Cabin 28 in CA came up the most in relation to the movie so i assumed that those were the murders it was based on. In the cabin 28 murders there were four people killed, Tina and John (brother and sister) their mother and John’s friend. There were younger children in a back room who were not hurt and survivied. The bodies were discovered by the 14 yr. old sister the next morning who had spent the night at the neighbor’s house. This happened in april 1981 27 years ago. If the strangers was meant to be based off of the cabin 28 murders i can see how but it is very very loosely based.
