Last night was a huge night for MMA fans all over the world. The two best pound for pound fighters on planet earth (arguably) were both on display, but with different organizations.
Neither man disappointed, with each delivering knockouts in a minute or less.
Fedor Emelienenko knocked Tim Sylvia to the canvas and proceeded to choke him out. It took a grand total of 36 seconds. For Fedor to dominate Sylvia in such a fashion is truly unbelievable, as Sylvia had both the reach advantage and, according to many, the striking advantage on the feet.
As for Anderson Silva, he moved up from the 185 pound middleweight class to the 205 pound light heavyweight class and faced a great striker in James Irvin. The only problem was that Silva is maybe the greatest striker in all of MMA, and he proved it by catching Irvin’s right leg kick and absolutely blasting him in the face, opening up a huge cut on Irvin and ending the fight. Fight total: 61 seconds.
